New Theatre, the producers of Castleford’s professional pantomime, held auditions last Sunday for boys and girls who love to sing and dance to join the cast of Aladdin at Castleford Civic Centre this Christmas.

A RECORD-breaking number of youngsters attend Aladdin auditions, with dozens of young people getting the chance to show off their skills as part of the Junior Ensemble workshop audition process for this year’s Christmas pantomime.

With the number of auditionees doubling from last year, they were put through their paces by the New Theatre team, before presenting their work in front of the audition panel, which had the hard job of deciding who would go onto the shows.

Successful performers have been directly informed by the producers, with Aladdin rehearsals starting in November ahead of the show’s run.

Lorenzo Zambrana, New Theatre’s Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted to offer young people the opportunity to be join the cast of a professional pantomime production. Yorkshire is full of extremely talented children, which deserved to be showcased in our pantomime. The audition day itself can be challenging, but for any of the performers who are keen to further and develop their career in the performing arts, this will be a perfect stepping stone for them. It will be a life changing experience for those that make it, and one they will never, ever forget”.

New Theatre’s production of Aladdin is taking place at Castleford Civic Centre from 20 – 24 December 2019. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased by calling 01977 330315 or via
